Back in about 1989 or so I got my father this knife. I wasn't really a collector back then, It just made a great gift. It's 110 with stag handles and a deer scene etched and colored into the blade. The wooden box says that 500 were made. I've been avidly collecting knives for the last few years now but have not been able to find another one like it. Does anyone else remember these knives or anything about it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

KBeck, I don't think you realize what your asking as there were thounsands of etched 110's and deer were a popular subject . In the photo I cannot make out enough detail on the blade to start pin pointing it . However, I'm trying . Tell me the stamping in the choil area . It could be mfg. from 1986 as thats one of the few that 500 were made . DM

The book I have doesn't list your model . Someone else with other resources will have to help you . Good luck . DM

I found one reference to a Special Project knife in 1991 described as "Deer Jumping Over Log", but not sure if that's your knife.

Nice 110 though!

Bear, I still couldn't make out the blade etch from the photo but I think the one your mentioning is not his . DM

Hi KB,

I know what you have just from the small photo and thank you for posting the large photo of your knife!

Your Buck knife was made in 1989 and is called "Hunter", Stag handle the blade etch was done by Taylor. In 89 Taylor did 3 different 110 LE's, "Elvis Presley" (Stag handle), "Hunter" (Stag handle), and "Empreror Hirohito 1901-1989" (Stag handle). The style of etching and the wood box is a dead give away for the Taylor stuff. I bet the top of your box had a laser cut of the blade etch?

Taylor did deep etching and then would add color to the deep etch, a lot of folks don't like the look of this style of etching. Taylor did a few LE's for Buck and can be found in 110's and 500's.

Thank you very much everyone. I think JB4570 nailed it spot on. The box even looks alot like the one in your picture. I'll have to do some research on this Taylor, does anyone know a first name or where I can find some more info? Thanks again.

Taylor Cutlery I believe is in Johnson City, TN. I am under the understanding that they are a knife store that did some special projects as indicated above. FYI.

Hi Richard,

I was hoping you would add to this thread. Most of the newer folks here don't know that the data sheet information I share here is from your hard work and knowledge. Thank you! Also thank you for the info on the Taylor shop.
