110 pocket clips (UPDATE: PROJECT mostly COMPLETE)

I've contacted Buck about purchasing a standoff 110 clip, the one used on the limited Slim Pro carbon fiber model (see below). It's been a week, but hopefully I'll hear back.

Being an LE model, I don't want to take mine apart. But I like the way it carries and really want to use it on a build I'm working on.

Were there any other models that used this standoff clip, or similar design, that bolts through the rear bolster? Maybe something more common I won't feel bad about stripping for parts?

I really don't want to drill and tap titanium. 😬

That's a sweet knife you have there. Good luck.
The LE carbon fiber is definitely slick, which is why I don't want to butcher it.

But I'm trying to find a way to add a pocket clip to a 560 without drilling. I may need to fabricate a clip. I suppose I've done weirder things, but really no experience in heat treating a clip to a nice, springy temper.

So you would rather drill out the pins that are holding the knife together than drill and tap the titanium frame that will have no effect on the knife's structure? 🤔

Drilling and tapping the titanium is a piece of cake and you don't need any specialized equipment to do it.

Yes. I'm Frankensteining some destroyed knives into exactly what I want. Well, close to it, anyway.

Take-apart mod and sandblasting is step 1.

If I *have* to drill and tap, I will. But it's going to be a last resort, since I really do like the way the standoff clip carries and draws.

Why not just a leather slip?
I've experimented with a few, and just wasn't happy. Either it flopped around in the pocket, unclipped when I tried to draw the knife, or stayed put but the pocket clip (Ulticlip) just scratched and gouged everything I passed by.

So after discovering the 186, I set out to modernize that concept on a budget.

Because let's face it, I'm not buying the new 110 Slim Pro Titanium.

So, quick update and hopefully someone can help.

The blade for the project is a NOS 110 blade off the bay. Looks like it was never installed. No bushing.

Blade off the 560 is shot, but the bushing is intact.

Has anyone transplanted bushings? Is it feasible, or am I better off sucking it up and buying a handful of 0.125x0.21876 bushings and starting fresh?

For pocket clip, I picked up a small plate of 2mm titanium. I will be crafting the clip from this based *loosely* on the clip seen on the 186. Never worked titanium before, so we'll see how this goes.

I wish Buck still sold their setscrew thumbstuds, so I guess I'm stuck with the Kwik stud. Hoping I can sandblast all titanium parts, and a stainless Kwik stud, so keep everything matching.

Wire wheel cleaned the paint off the grips pretty well. Hoping sandblasting will clean out the indentations.

I don’t know where to purchase the .218” diameter bushings. Just look for a bushing that is a few thousandths thicker than the blade. The 110 Legacy Pro Titanium weighs 4.8oz. This is how it compares weight wise to other models. 2nd pic (is this the thumb stud you’re looking for?View attachment 2076911View attachment 2076912

That's the one. I've referenced a lot of your posts, digging for 560 information.

The Kwik studs are nice and available, but those Buck shop studs are much nicer I think.

Then again, I'm also exploring some other ideas. Like soldering a wave onto a Kwik thumb-bar.

The studs from the Buck Factory store came in 2 sizes. The larger one was slotted in the middle. The smaller one had an off set slot. Both had a 1/8” slot and an axial set screw.View attachment 2081901

Yall may get tired of hearing me say it, but back those clip screws out and put a tad of red locktite on them.
Or Blue if you think you might want to take a clip off in the future.
I've had several screws back out and some lost. Buck has been good about replacing them.
That is if you get a hold of someone that knows what a 710 Volt or an Alpha Hunter folder are.

Really just need to sandblast the entire grip and clip to get rid of the last of the paint and even everything out.
Started as a 560 with a destroyed blade. Found a 110 donor blade on the bay, never installed from factory. Had to find and install bushing, which was fun. Take-apart mod. Thumb stud.
Never heard back from Buck on the pocket clip in my OP, so I decided screw it, I'll make this into a 186 tribute.
Clip is 2mm titanium plate off the 'zon. Never worked with titanium before, but it's... Interesting.

So far, love this thing.

Oh, yeah, pictures.
