110 Question? Cherry Fibron?

On the newer knives I'm not as knowledgeable . Plus, several of our members who are up on those are attending the show in Pasadena . DM ;(

Yes, it might take a while for help on that one. Your guess on it so far sounds good.

I've not seen one of those.

Fibron sounds like a good name for it......but there are a LOT of people out there putting aftermarket slabs on 110s, so it's hard to say.

For what's it's worth, yours looks like micarta to me. I have a new in the box 1994 110 that is factory labeled "Aqua Fibron". It's an aqua green, but the "Fibron" is wood grained and if it was brown, would look just like the laminated stuff they use today. If I remember right, Fibron was a trade name for the first laminated stuff they used. There's a thread about that somewhere that I just recently ran across.

Here's CJ's answer to a "Fibron" question.

I don't remember the exact year but seems like 97 or 98. They were supposed to be for a subsequent year but we were so excited about the design we pressed them into that current year's new products.

As to Fibron...that was a brand name for the laminated/impregnated birch handles. We use the same material basically from a different source today.

My "guess" is that yours is aftermarket.

That is Red Linen Micarta. Can you show a picture of the filework please?

Thanks,
Eric

Those are real good looking knife scales. I would go with the red Linen Micarta, also.

This knife is one that I customized a few years ago. I thought the thumb notches on the rocker looked familiar in your first pics.:) Since I became paralyzed and resumed my custom work, I stamp the back side of the rocker in the thumb depression area with ARK.

I haven't had many new ones up for sale recently because I am trying to get a dozen or so ready for a gun show in April. Iventory in my store is pretty meager right now! I'm about done with the show knives then I will get started on some store inventory.
