Just picked up a NIB 110 with nickel bolsters and a charcoal grey handle. The box is marked N SILVER BLK/CHAR B110-SP29-0, CAT. 9404. The blade is marked with the year mark for 2002. I have never seen one like it, and was wondering how common it is. Price was $39.95.
Thanks,
John

The 2002 year mark is the Anvil. (100 years) I'd say for $39.95 you got a great deal. I would buy one in heartbeat if I found one.

I just checked the March 2005 issue of the Buck Collectors Club newsletter which contains a Special projects list for 2004. The B110-SP29-0 is described as 110 NS with Charcola inlay, there were 300 made for Black Diamond Blade Co.

Did you find it in Illinois?

Brian

Actually I got it this weekend in Wisconsin Dells, at a small store right on the main street. This guy always has some good stuff mixed in with the China junk. I have one 2002 knife with the anvil mark, but this one has the squared off upside down U mark on it, which according to "The Story Of Buck Knives" is also the 2002 mark. Is this right?

John

The squared-off upside down U is the 2001 mark. I believe that the date code chart in "The Story of Buck Knives" book is incorrect.

Tom

Just went to the Buck website and Tom is correct, the knife was made in 2001.

Thanks,
John

I checked the catalogue number and there were about 700 sold. Roughly half in 2001 and the balance in 2004. Apparently the first batch was for one retailer and the second batch was for another. It calls the inlays black charcoal.
Hope this helps,
