Alright i am reaching out to the more knowledgeable forum members, especially with Bucks repair/spa/warranty service. I recently received a 110 with a corner of the wood scale broken out and a very worn/abused blade. I know I can send it into Buck for a reblade for $10 and possibly to fix the scale, but I have a couple questions.
a) Now that the drop point is available in the custom shop for no additional fee, can I get a $10 blade replacement with the drop point?
b) Will Buck replace the broken wood with a new scale or will they offer a replacement knife/ half off deal?
c) I have thought about replacing the wood with another scale myself. I am generally handy and have done a few knife mods before. I read a few tutorials on replacing knife scales and even one specifically on the 110 and think I could do this myself. My question is- If I replace the scales myself and clean up the rest of the knife should I send it in to get the blade replaced before or after I do my work on it?
I know pics would help but I am having some problems with my internet service and pics would be hard right now. The knife is a basic 1980's Buck 110 that is beat up, but still has a solid lockup and no blade play. The body is in decent shape but some how a chunk of wood has fallen? out.
Thanks in advance,
Bruce
