This came in the mail today with a 110 Custom.

Thiniking it's a new version from Buck...but I don't know what I don't know.

I have not seen one like this but then, again, I've never been to Spain, but I kinda like the music.

That looks about like the sheath that I wrote about the same time you were writing yours, except that mine is black. What is that made of?

Nolan

leather I beleive...I ordered them with my custom 110's that should be showing up in about a month.

May be leather but it is poorly stitched up. The ones that have been coming with my new Bucks are black and I am almost sure they are not leather.

All the ones I've gotten with my 110s have been leather but personally I prefer the cordura(?) for daily carry, I use a 100 years buck knives sheath which is very well made.

 ...Nice lookin' sheath IMO gooser...hmmm...This reminds me...The last custom I got a buncha months back was ordered with the tan sheath and Sarah sent me a black one as they were out of the tan ones...She said I'd be gettin' the "tan sheath" shortly...Looks like I might have to get Joe involved in this ( drum roll please...) "Mystery of the Missing Tan Sheath"... :p

Goose,
I received a sheath exactly like that with my custom shop 110 with KOA scales back in 2004. It's a little snug but a better sheath than the others in my opinion.
Mike

Thanks all for your replies.

It seems like leather..."maybe" bonded as opposed to full grain or top grain. No "Mexico" sticker in it as I have seen in some the regular, or original, styled 110 sheaths I have received recently.

Both the original and this "Snoopy" are 1/8" thick. Both have the same type of machine stitching pattern and same thickness waxed thread. But for some reason, I this new version just doesn't seem as stiff and gives a first impression of being wimpy-er than the original. Could be a result of the tanning process that makes the Snoopy seem softer.

I think I like this new version better as well Five-O. I dunno...I usually use my JB Wood horizontal or for more discreet events, my Buck genuine Corinthian cordura horizontal.

What I don't like is the stitching on the top part of the loop. It is applied flat against the main body of the sheath whereas the original version had the loop folded over. Being folded over seems like it would be better for rough wear by keeping the belt from rubbing up on the topside of the loop and tearing through the stitching. Having said that, the new Snoopy design using the flat loop sewing makes for a slimmer profile.

What I do like is that the main body of the sheath is one piece as opposed to two piece. Only has stictching on one side...less stictching at risk of tearing.

Mike, interesting that you got one of those in 2004. My last BCS (110 Damascus), that I got direct from Buck, around Jan of this year had the old style. So I guess they just pull what is closest off the shelf. ???

BTW, it smells like dye.

I like the looks of the new sheath! I dont have one yet, but maybe soon.
one thing I would like to see in these is horizontal carry :D

This design, not being horizontal, would you use it at all Jim?

I rarely, if ever, wear a 110 with anything but a horizontal.
Now that I think about it, it isn't "rarely", I never wear a 110 other than horizontally.

Yes I do wear my leather ones, just not at work. I wear my Buckcote in its original leather sheath. Also the Cabelas AG is used with the original sheath.
I mainly wear the cordura for work when it can get in the way and needs to be washed more frequently. My new 112 is also carried in the original leather sheath. I guess it varies :D

Buck has been making that sheath, I've got 1 with the mountain logo on the flap I've had for awhile. I don't know where it was made, and I've already worn the felt off the backside of the snap.

Oh yeah Beagle Scout Scott...
I forgot to mention that it had the felt on the inner snap. Nice touch.
Funny...when I pulled the sheath outta the box, the first thing I did was turn it over to look for the mountain stamp.
So, maybe I have seen these somewhere before.
I'm old, they say that "memory" is the first to go, I used to smoke pot in the 70's, and now, while I only drink socially, I am very social.

Speaking of Beagles. I have been putting my two beagles on drill status...if I am in the kitchen, they can now respond to the opening click sound of a 110 in ten seconds from anywhere else in da crib.
Their goal is gonna be five seconds before they are awarded active duty salami/Spam patrol
It's my thread, I can hi-jack it if I want to... ;)

Those sheaths were coming with all the 10 folders around here back in 94-95,thats all you could get with them,i have several in black leather with th old scroll style buck on the sheath.

I also have a couple horizontal buck sheaths, and those will allow you to carry a 110 most places without raising an eyebrow, most think its sunglasses.lol

I have one of those sheaths. I think they look and feel nice. Mine is much more reactive to the brass bolsters however. I can get away with leaving a 110 in the black sheath for a while, but a few weeks in the brown one results in green crud.

Goose,, is that sheath still pictured on the custom shop ordering site? Thats the one I wanted when I ordered my BEE GEE 42 stag but got a standard black sheath. I never did get that one, but Sarah sent me a couple of AG sheaths.

I have a couple sheaths like that, one still in that clampack I posted about a year or so ago. The one I am still trying to find the age of, without having to slice open the clam.

The other one, I found in a clampack hanging on a rack at Academy. Bought it thinking it was an Idaho 110. Turned out to be a 2003. Made me wonder where it had been hiding for so long to surface on a rack in 2005. Would have returned it if it had of been a standard black sheath and not an Idaho. 110.

Yes, I just looked, that sheath is still the one that comes up in the view if you click the tan option. Which I did, which wasn't what I got.

Thats why that sheath looks familiar to me!!!

Mine came tan but it was stitched on 3 sides just like the standard black ones!

Larry...I'm confused.
Did you end up getting the sheath that you wanted but just not from Buck direct?

Yeah Scott, I have the tan one I got with a custom order that is stitched like the "classic". But it doesn't have the "Snoopy" ear type of flap...has the standard shaped flap.

I managed to pick up a couple of the tan/brown curved botton sheaths but not from Buck.

Got the standard tan/brown one from Buck with my customs.like wh4f said.

Those curved bottom sheaths are pretty rare.

Oh....did notice one of curved bottom ones has the normal Buck Knives logo on the flap, and the one that is still snug in the clampack has that triangle with what is called mountains.

I wonder when that mountain logo came into being. I am still trying to date this clam without opening it. It does say Edge 2000, so if that happened in 2000, it isn't older than that.
