Hi, I'm new here this is my first post. I have a 4 dot 110 and was wondering what steel they used then and when the cut over date was from 440C to 420HC. I did a search but could find nithing. This is a great site, tons of info. Thanks
Thanks, I knew they used it but didn't think about this steel. Edge lasts quite a long time and I can bring it back to sharp easily. I love my 110, I've had it over 30 years and it's served me well, goes on every hunt with me. looking to get a couple more.
OS, welcome to the Buck Forum. True the 4 dot began the use of 425M steel. Which continued until 1991. Then in 1992 with the year stamp of a minus '-' starts the phase out of
425M to 420HC. So, at some point all the 425M was used up and only 420HC is being used. We are not sure when that occurred during that year. DM
I brought a 4 dot with me when I moved overseas. I stored my cherished original 110 from the mid 60's. The 4 dot 110, as has been said, was made between 1981-1986. I got mine around 1981 or 1982. The 4 dot has 425M steel.
DocT thanks, I have that site in favorites but didn't know about the function you showed me, I'll have to do a little digging there. I had a 110 from mid 70's but lost it cleaning some game animal. Wish I had that one back.
