I used my 110 to cut some plastic ties and duct tape at work today and was disappointed to find that the edge rolled somewhat about 1 inch from the tip. I'm not too familiar with the steel that's used in these new 110s(got mine about a month ago), but does it keep a decent edge depending on use or does it need to be sharpened more frequently than other steels like VG10, CPM440V, etc.?

Thanks. :D

Its 420HC. It will require more sharpening than the super steels, but Buck uses it because they can stamp it out instead of having to laser cut.

It still has good edge holding qualities, especially with Edge2000. That edge2000 is also probably part of why your edge rolled like it did. The Edge2000 is a steeper angle than others use, but it is better for general cutting.

I bought my 110 at WallyWorld and it came in a regular Buck box, with no info on the Edge2000. However, out of the box, I touched it up at the 40 degree angle on my Sharpmaker that would have supposedly given it a stronger, longer lasting edge, which didn't last very long. :( I suppose that I'll just use my fully serrated FRN Endura for the tougher cutting chores, since I carry that along with my 110 to complement.

KBR, a couple of rambles... I delivered a load to a place in KC,MO and the yardman was using a totally abused Endura w/ full serrations and there was no way I gould have kept up with my Buck cutting the junk he was.
You may consider reprofiling your edge to a steeper angle, or find an older 110 with the pre E2K.I have a 532 that couldnt keep up with my 501. Steepened the angle closer to the 501 and much better on the stuff I cut.
JMO, YMMV
