110 two dot question

This past week end, I bought a two dot 110. The blade is full and looks like someone made a feeble attempt to sharpen it. The contour of the blade from the back to the edge is quite different from current production 110s. Was the two dot 110 made with a convex edge or a standard edge bevel? The reason I ask is that the blade starts out with a hollow grind but about 1/8 inch before the edge, the blade appears to thicken and then rolls off to the edge. In comparing the two dot with a 110 from the mid 90’s the difference is very clear. The newer version has a very definite hollow grind that tapers all the way to the edge bevel. The older 110 looks like with a little work one could put a nice convex edge on it.

The two dot has square edges on the handle and bolsters. It is not nearly as comfortable to use as the newer 110s with the rounded edges. I hope whoever came up with the idea to round or radius the handles got a raise, promotion or at least some stock options.

I appreciate any info you all can give on this.

Chuck,
The 2 dot 110, 1 dot on each side of the model number, was made from 1974 to 1980 and the blade steel is 440C. I do not know the exact date of when we went from the semi hollow to the full hollow but it was sometime after you knife was made.
We switched to the full hollow in part because the majority of our customers had a very dificult time sharpening the convex edge found on the semi hollow.

I hope this helps.

Joe,

Thanks very much for the quick reply. I guess I'll have a go at doing a convex edge on this knife.
