Is the 110 ecolite just as strong as the 110? It does not appear so due to skeletonized liners and sandwich construction. What % would you say the Ecolite is compared to the 110? 80% as strong?

I dont know if we can answer that. I would think that Buck has data and Joe, CJ, Jeff or esp Richard may have exact info. Being that I am always ready to shoot from the hip though,:p I gotta figger 80-90%. The liner is only trimmed in the center so unless you are going to bend it around a tree, it should hold up.

In theory, I would assume the traditional 110 would be stronger. With that in mind, the knife will never break on you unless you were intentionally abusing it.

It wouldn't surprise me to hear that in some regards the ecolite may in fact be more resilient to abuse. Brass is relatively soft, and easily deformed. Paperstone is amazingly tough stuff. The standard 110 has a brass pivot pin, but the Ecolite has a steel pivot pin. I think it would matter what manner of abuse each was subjected to to find their respective failure points under testing.

I wonder how well Paperstone resists the elongation of holes through the frame, as in for the pivot pin and lockbar pivot?

I got some initial feedback from Jeff regarding my Bucklite Max knives and it could be that there is more slop in them due to the plastic handles.
