I would like to know why it seems easier to get a sharper edge on my Schrade LB7 compared to my Buck 110. Does this mean the steel is softer on the Scrade? I use a lansky deluxe down to fine.

Deep6, this would depend; what are the dates of production of the two knives in question and the blade geometery. The good folks over at the Schrade forum should be able to tell you the info on your LB7. More info is needed to say for sure. Preston

This should be fun, this topic has been the source of endless debate between me and my older brother. I'm a Buck man and he is a Schrade man, worse than politics! :)

I have to admit for many years Schrade was it for me! But then I discovered the earler offerings from Buck no dot, 2 dot etc. which are a little heavyer in the handle. I have very large hands, it's a real pain finding gloves that fit so the larger the handle the better. Schrade LB7's never changed handle dimensions as far as I know from 78 until 04 when they ceased to exist. Unfortunatly when a Schrade needs work what can you do besides retire it. Buck 110 on the other hand has an excellent warrannty with so many options in replacement blades. I am always looking for the older Buck's not so much for the collecters value but more so because they fit my hands much better. The newer Buck 110's are a damn nice knife but the more rounded bolsters just don't fit my hand as well.

I hope I don't want to offend anyone on this forum but it's a tough call which is my favorite.

No offense taken, Deep6! I prefer Bucks myself, but I can respect someone who has a thoughtful reason behind his position!
