110 with a 560U marking ?

Well the U should mean that it was made in 1998, but don't know what the 560 is about...

It means they used a blade made for the 560 XLTi Titanium handle knife. They musta run short of 110 blades for awhile back then.

The "U" means that the blade was made in 1998, not necessarily the year the knife was assembled. For example, if Buck made 100,000 blades for the 501 in 1998 and only assembled 99,000 of those knives within that year, then the 1,000 blades left over would go into the next year's production. So your 110 could have been assembled in '98, '99 or possibly in 2000. It all depends on when Buck began to use up the blades made for the discontinued 560 and when the supply ran out. Since the 110 and 560 use the same blade, there is no problem with the substitution made by Buck. Just another version of the 110 to collect.

misterzee,
I would guess that a little while back when we discontinued the 560 we used up the remaining blades in 110's. They are the same blade. We do this every now and then and it just makes the collecting more fun!

This sounds like a terrible problem. I stand ready to help you; I will exchange your problem knife for a brand new 110 with the proper markings and send along $10 to help erase the pain and distress you have endured. I will remove your knife from circulation so no other person will have to endure such trauma again.

Thanks guys. I'm just a newbie to this, but something about these 110s and 119-120s makes me wanna have a few. Obviously there's lots of people with lots of knife-smarts hanging around this place!

misterzee,
I hope you will find out that we also love to talk knives and you should feel free to join in! But you better watch that Vern guy, his last post is his way of saying you have a good knife!
Take care,

Thanks Joe. Tell you what Vern, I don't have a clue as to how desirable this 110/560 is, but, I sure would like to have a stag 110! How close is this to a swap?

You may be new to this game, but you catch on quick! It's probably a pretty close swap. Contact me directly at vtaylor@orland.net
