I've recently acquired a model 110 with holes in the blade. I've questioned a couple of forum members in the past about the origin of these blades. My questions are: Who modified these blades? How many are thought to be in existence? Were they done with a particular scale combo originally? Mine is elk horn. I think I've seen stag. I've seen a few 560s with these blade...any info is helpful.

It is my understanding that those blades are direct from Buck, although I don't know the full story behind them. I'm sure Dave will be along and inform all of us.

IIRC, 334dave experimented with diamond burrs on some 110 blades...maybe even a 560...they make a nice neat hole...:thumbup:

Dayum Trax! dat was classifed !
sure i cuts some little holes in a blade and sent it to Joe.. but dat was jest to show it could be done but but but i did not do de rest o dem at all all!
NO sirs i did not!
but did happen i hears mumbo jumbo on how some o them come to be...
der was an out fit that has three stores ...
seems to me it starts wit an Sierra... Fitters
well they commisions buck to makes them some o dem holey blades..
seems dat Joe was out of town when they was made..
so when a bunch of us nut cases ask bouts them-
well Joe says he no can recall any thing like that being made by buck
... but that it would look supper on a 560..
well Joe comes back a few days later and say low and behold Buck did make them!
and there were only 200 made not 201 or 200 and some extras
jest the 200 and worse dey is none left at Buck!
if there had been he would have put some in a 560 cause it looked so cool...
well bless some ones heart darn if'n some dont start showing up !
i know of 8 or so that have showed up (in Ti)
oh and i gots me one right here n west by god...
so dey is only 7 of the critters not in brass known.
seems i hears that there is only 190 or so of the orgionals left..!
the orders at buck say all went into elk some have been reported in stag also ...
side note to the story...
a few mounths later i finds this PDF file in my inbox wit no return address!
on it is every single one of the laser cut outs that buck had programed in to the computer in '05 when it arived in idaho..
ya know i looked it over real real hard... and strangely
there is was no hole cut out pateran at all in the print out i got!..

well here is a pic of two that i had ... the top one is still mine
and its shiny brother lives in Texas..

Thanks for the info Dav. Could/can you elaborate just a little more on who ordered the blades from Buck. "S...Fitters" doesn't mean s..t to me!

the best i can do is that the first name is like Seara or sierra -Out Fitters ?
i can not spell the name correctly nor get close ..
i can tell you they are out at all three stores...
some one (cough) i know (cough) checked all three stores (cough) for the last of them (gag) ...

Thanks again Dave! I'll be sure to post a pic when I have it in my possession.

The blade originally came with a stag 110 sold by Sierra Trading Post out of Cheyenne, WY. The blades Dave got were probably overruns. FYI.

The knife is elk with nickel silver frame Cat No. 9624, Model 110SP60.
