Hi Guys, any one know when they made the 110 Pewter
"Eagle Mountain" for the Great American Collection?
I guess these were made to sell thru The Great American
Buckle Company, according to the registration card.
It is in a wooden display box with plexiglass on both
sides, it is dovetailed in and I can't seem to get the
plexi to slide out the end, I have the knife for vewing
for a possible trade, but am not sure of the value or
when it was made? Tips on how to get the knife out without
hurting the display box or plexiglass also welcome.

Frank,
It looks like the knife was sold from late 1984 to 1985. I can not tell how many with the deer scene vs. the eagle scene were made though. My records show the knife sold for about $50 back then but i would put the value at least twice that today. We did not finish the run of 5000. Between the two scenes, we made about 5000 total
Hope this helps,

Joe, thanks so much for your imput. Now if I can just get it out of
the case to look it over real good. Hope all is well in
Buck Land. Hope to many Buck collectors at the NKCA Ohio
show in about a week & a half.

These were made for Great American Buckle Co. They actually made the pewter inserts. They were so heavy they never found acceptance with anyone who wanted to carry them and they came too early for Buck collectors - there were only 2 or three back then. I still have some of the original color flyers on this knife; I have sold a couple of these for $150 each, and that was a couple of years ago. I think they are worth at least that much (I hope so, 'cause I've still got a few to sell). As for the problem with the case (which is the original). Put it in a warm (110-120 degrees) DRY pkace for a couple of hours and then put a frozen object, like an ice pack, on the plastic ONLY for 2-3 minutes and then try to open it. When you get it open, lightly sand the edges of the plastic with 150 paper and round off the edges just a little.
