Seen at an antique mall this weekend: A buck 110 with the center pivot pin and only two other pins to secure the handle. Also: Very much more 'angular' than my two relatively brand new 110s; that is the edges of the brass bolsters and wood handles are not at all rounded. Tang mark is BUCK, 110, USA' on three lines. I almost just passed by it as it looked more like one of the cheap Pakistan 110 clones.

How early a model is this? At all rare? Blades shows wear and some careless sharpening, missing tiny bit of the tip.

Thanks for your assistance.
Phil

...Hi Phil...Buck added a "model" number to the stamp in 1973. That's a pretty early 110. Too bad it's been mistreated. :(
Not real "rare" but they aren't layin' all over the place either...LOL...

You did buy it I hope!!

well... er... no, I didn't buy it. But it's been there a while and probably will be for a while more. I wanted to check with you guys before I laid out $40 for something I know not much about. Hey! That would be interesting; would Buck really install a new blade in that thing?

Thanks all.

Phil

...They sure would Phil...They have a charge of $35 dollars or so but if that knife's blade is truly "toast" it's the way you might want to go. $40 dollars for the knife "as-is", however, seems a bit steep to me. You can pick them up on eBay from time to time for quite a bit cheaper if they are in that kinda shape...

Most anyone in antiques, flea markets and small shops will listen to an offer.
of course they always want top dollar.

Never hurts to ask what they will take for it. Works for my wife! :D
