I disassembled this and milled back the bolsters. What do you guys think?

nice work, why just cause...or were ya shooting for a comfort in gripping when using, etc? thanks.

It's lighter, more scale showing, and because gluing scales gets boring. I like making 110's no one has seen before.

Sorry, you asked, I know you do good work, but, I don't like the looks of that. I'd rather have it with the no bolsters or the regular. Preston

I like it.

This mod probably accomplishes the same goal as a headless design, that is,weight reduction. It accomplishes something more because it provides protection for the handles[scales] at both ends of the knife. The headless design leaves open the possibility of damage to the handles at the rear of the knife,as the handle material is exposed at that area.

Good work and congrats for thinking "outside of the box".

understood. thank you Sir for the follow up.

i like it, but i also like JDbear and pjsjr's ideas a bit more, but it's splitting hairs for what i like. thanks for sharing with us.

Thank you for the input. I'm still on the fence about it.

Thank you. I was on the wavelength of the lower bolster providing protection as well.

I like it, the biggest problem with the 110 is the weight , anything tastefully done is an improvement in my humble opinion. If this knife showed up at my front door I would be very happy to carry it.

I'm still on the fence about it as well. I don't want to let my standard concept of a 110 cloud my perspective on this mod. It could have some benefits. Especially, toward embellishments. As you've given the artist more canvas to work on. DM

I think it's cool..If it was all white bone with scrimshaw more cool! If it was bare headed and scrimed ...Super Cool! I've never seen a 110 modified like that.

I don't care for it at all. I'm all about alterations and doing something different, but it just don't do anything for me. Maybe if it had angles more like the 500 and/or barehead maybe.

I was wondering that if you made it bare headed could you possibly extend the total length of the handle by a inch or so? I think it would be a really different look and with the right style of finger grooves might be extremely practical as well. A modification extending the total length would absolutely be one no one else has made! When I first started collecting I had the idea of creating a 112 that would have a 'cave man' or 'Eskimo' kind of look with a full chip flint blade and oversized handles...

I basically milled as much as possible without compromising the pin hole integrity.
I have seen Leroy fit a 112 blade into a 110 handle which might bring your dream to life!
