111/110 sheath difference that I just noticed

This may be old news to some of you, but it took awhile to dawn on me. I was just talking to David Martin and he mentioned the difference in the way the pouch on a sheath for the 111 is cut compared to the one for a 110.

It appears that the top of the pouch for the 111 is cut down to compliment and follow the curved bolsters on the 111. I can't see any other explaination. They (111 sheaths) are the only ones I have that are shaped like that.

Well I guess I have to dig through the boxes (and pick em up after they fall ) to check mine out.

I deal with this except there are now about 25 more boxes precariously perched and any time I move one, 7-10 fall:( Gotta clean that up one of these days:)

Yep. I bought 6 or 7 of the 111 buildouts on the 'bay a while back. They all came with sheaths just like that. Sort of a nice touch, I think.

I just recently got one and noticed it . Thanks to Plumber . Also, look at the flap as its not pointed like a std. 110 sheath instead its rounded . So, Buck changed a few items on this model as it was supposed to be a up grade . Nice photos Plumber . DM

Ima, Good photo . You let your daughter come into 'your' room ? DM

Yeah DM, its actually more her room. It was her nursery/bedroom until she was old enough to move upstairs. Now its the computer room, gun cabinet/knife box shelf, gym(treadmill) and general junk room. Amazing, all that in an 8X10 room.:)

I don't know, but I'm sure you could find out by contacting the club. Here's some more. I just really like the 111's style.

Dave, The lower one has the ID. 2005 stamp and serial number . The top knife has neither ? Both nice knives . DM

Dave, In your photo #12 post those first two knives the bottom one is Ironwood .
Buck did those as LE's for Cabela's and some of them will have a 'Grand Opening'
etch on the blade . A short run for that stores Grand Opening . I've seen some, even held one which a member has . Nice photos . DM

Guys, I had to discuss this further . I found another sheath like the 111's . It came with the early 137 Sharpening Steel . It has the top cut at a slant, folded, stitched on one side and square on the bottom . Any body else have one ? DM

The added touches to the new sheath look good but reduce its function a lot in m y opinion.I am left handed ,and carry my 110 on my left side, with that 111 sheath, you need to carry on the right side to have it function like it was designed. Its a right handed world our there,LOL,I'd have a hard time getting used to left side carry with a sheath like that.

The best leather sheaths built for actual use by anyone was the low rider old 2 dot style 110 sheaths, built to last, and be used by anyone.Nice knives though, lol

Thanks Haebbie . Notice the 137 is stamped at the top of this sheath . I've seen very few other sheaths stamped in this manner . DM

I actually prefer the 111 to the 110. Too bad that just as I discovered the 111, they quit making them. :(
