Hi folks,

I chanced into this interesting 111, and I know little about it. My only experience with 111s was with the engraved aluminum-scaled knives, and the drop-point later offerings.

Anyone have any info about these? The little factory insert is a nice touch!

Thanks for looking !

Hickory n steel Hickory n steel This version of the 111 was meant to be a fancier version of the 110. Because Walmart was selling 110’s cheaper than the knife stores could. The fancier 111 was set aside for the knife stores.

The only difference was the curved bolsters.

The ones like the OP has were made with the last of the handles with the curved bolsters and blades.

Is this half brass and half nickel also?

I was thinking of the old aluminum 111.

Somehow I completely missed the curved bolsters.
I remember these because they had the curve like a 55, they were somewhat recent right ?

Yeah, I guess the 55 should be the mini 111.

It certainly isn't a mini 110.

It's a great knife and I love it, but had they used a 503 frame it could actually be a miniature 110.
Why will they make a 110 that matches the 55, but not a 55 with 503 frame to match the 110 ?

I'm crazy I know, but it has always bugged me.

Agreed.not sure how this became the mini 110. Would of been pretty cool to have a 110 as a clip point and the 111 as the drop point. Same goes for 112. 113 curved bolsters and drop point version of the 112. Then down size again.

Copper and Clad sold a 55 with a drop point blade, but I haven't seen a 503 with a clip point. I would like to try a blade swap between a 55 and 503. Not sure if the tang geometry is the same on both?

Sunning. Now I need to find one.

Do you think we'll ever see a clip point 505 ?

If they did a clip point and brass in the entire 500 series I would seriously carry all of them at once along with a 110 on my belt.

Yeah, I guess the 55 should be the mini 111.
Or the curved bolster 111, should have been the 550. Then the 111 would always be the aluminum engraved one.

I thought the curved bolsters were pretty cool looking. The two curves seem to be part of the same circle. Which really speaks to my OCD. Or maybe it’s a “FENG SHUI” thing. Somehow it’s very satisfying almost calming. Maybe I’m nuts.

The 55 came out before the 111. Being roughly half a 110 it is a 55. If it were based off the 111 I guess it'd been a 55.5
I love the round bolster cut out wish it was on the 501.
