Does anyone know offhand whether a blade/backspring from a 2-dot 112 will swap into a '95 era rounded frame?

Maybe sitflyer will check in here today. I know he could answer your question.

My memory is that yes, you can....but my memory doesn't always work right. :)

Blue Sky, I just eyeballed a couple of two dot blades against a newer (2012) blade, and also compared the two dot lockbar against a newer one. It looks to be that you can get away with just dropping the two dot blade into the newer frame. I have usually gone the other way and put modern blades into older frames that I picked up "on the cheap" because they had broken or badly worn blades. the only possible issue that was apparent is that the two dot lockbar tab was ground to fit from the factory. I would remove both blades and use a 1/8 inch punch to test fit the blade before removing the lockbar. If all is good the blade should lock open with the bar fully engaged into the blade and it should close with the tip in the bladewell. At the most I would only expect a very minor amount of fitment work being needed, if any.

Thanks sitflyer. What I want to do might seem odd, but the newer one has some sentimental value and if I'm going to replace the blade, why not put in some good old 440C? As it happens I have a few 2-dots around here, so it might just happen...

Blue Sky, I forgot to mention...some of those two dot blades have a 1/8" hole, and some of them have a larger hole with a 1/8" bushing...

As long as the pivot pins are both 1/8" it shouldn't matter though right?

I'm pretty sure the lock bar is slightly different as well. But it may still work. With the 2 dots you can press the lock bar and the blade will drop if you shake the frame. The newer ones are tighter and you have to manually drop the blade. You may have to do a little filing or replace the lock bar and blade to the old style. I replaced a worn out 2 dot 112 blade with a 482 blade and had to switch the lock bar too. Turned out sweet though
