I allways wished for a 112 that rode a little more comfortably "in pocket" so I got this poor old beater for 8$ . It came with traditional broken tip and generous
bolster hammering. A little custom file work later and...
Real comfy front pocket carry. :D

Fritz...no, the tip rests nice and deep in the well!
Desoto... No... I am terrible about not taking before photos...

Thanx for the kind remarks.

Good job! Kind of reminds me of the Canoe pattern slipjoint. How long did it take you to modify?

Thanx Badhammer,
The bolsters took about 2 hours with a 10" bastard file.
Blade work and finish work about four hours.
The shape is quite comfortable in hand.

Should have sent it to Buck and had the blade changed out before doing your mods.

Sitflyer do you have a duke 500? If so it would be nice for you to do some side by side photos for us. The file thining/rounding make the edges of that 112 very close to a duke 500 in looks. If you couls thin out the sides/scales you would have a clip point, brass 500;).....cool.

Nice work! I bet that thing drops to the bottom of your pocket like a lead brick.

jb4570, here's the pic you wanted.
colt, why waste a good blade ?
thanx to all for kind remarks

Very nice work sitflyer!

Thanks for the extra photo. I thought that shape looked familiar to me. Just thin out the sides a little more and you will have a clip point, 1/2 canoe 500;).

If I can figure out how to put heads on pins I would like to take the sides WAY down...also considered removing the "point" at the well side of the butt.
Maybe if I can find another beater I'll go it a little further next time :)

Cool work sitflyer!

Thinner is better for EDC in MHO

Isn't fixing up old knives fun, or making them better etc...

Very interesting work. I like it. Now where did I put that file? lol
