I've owned and used my beloved 112 since 1973, but between this forum and my recent "The Story of Buck Knives" book purchase, I convinced myself that I was long overdue for a 110. I decided to go with a 2 dot (top knife in photo) because of the 440C blade, ebony scales, square frame and the fact that all of my other Bucks are from the 70s. Also, I liked that this particular knife has small brass pins and the scales nicely match. Paid $75, which I thought was fair since the knife and sheath are in new condition. According to the seller, the knife locks open like a vault. :D Should arrive tomorrow or Saturday.

Knowing the huge following of the 110, is this knife going to knock my 112 out of first place? Has this happened to anyone else? Just wondering what to expect.

I love the 112 as well. I have had one in my hunting gear since 1980. I now own many 110s but have not replaced the 112 on deer duty with one.

Thanks Casey. About 6-7 years ago, I owned a new, current production 110 for a very short time. At first, it locked up tight in all directions, but it quickly developed play, which disappointed me, so I sold it and went back to my trusty, old, rock solid, 112. I'm hoping the lock on this 2 dot 110 holds up. I have to admit, I remember the 110 handle being comfortable and roomy compared to my 112.

Haa, TAH I don't think you'll allow the 110 to replace your 112. I like both and switch back and forth at times. Small pin, 2 dot 110... That's a good one. DM

Thanks David. I was pretty excited to find a 2 dot with small pins. I like the roughed look of the large pins, but the small pins somehow give the knife a little more refinement.

TAH,

Congrats on the knife.

We seem to suddenly be running on paraelell paths. With me taking the newer route to your older path.
I ordered a 50th Anniversary 110 this morning. Just seemed like something I should have. Never had a Buck folder. In fact not much of a folder guy at all. Picked up a few other brands last year in trades. First in 30 years.

TAH;I've had MY .112. since I got in the trades in 1974-75 I have purchase every 110 from two dots all the way to the super steels and my two dot 112 ends up back on my belt every time.

Lost, what can I say, regardless of vintage, we both have good taste in knives. :) That 50th 110 sounds nice. Did you receive your 124 yet?

gard, I might end up doing the same, but I hope I find a nice balance for both. Looking forward to having one of each! Thanks for your comments.

According to the dealer, it should arrive today. Apparently it is well traveled.

10 days to get from Arkansas to uppper upstate New York.

Here's my pair of 2 dots that I bought at the same time way back when. You'll love having both.

All my 110's were sent down the road except for one as it had been File/worked and bolsters Engraved and very nice Stag Scales put on it plus it had a lot of sentimental value to me but I still have my 112 Collection {{16}} Knives and now all have been Engraved and File/Worked plus different Scales for every-one of them and when I am gone they will go to my 2 Sons to be split up as one will pick one and then the other will pick one as that way there will be no let downs ~~ besides they are both good young men and know how to act.! The rest of my Knife Collection will be done the same way and also my Guns and other Collectables.! My Fav's were the 112's from the time I could carry a Knife but I still have my Fav's with other Knife companies to boot like everybody else but the Buck still hangs in there.!*****

That's ridiculous. Someone dropped the ball. They should know that excessive waiting periods are tough on us knife guys. :(

You'll love having both.

Thanks for the photo. Both of your knives are in great condition with honest wear.

Thanks to your good parenting. Sounds like they will inherit some wonderful keepsakes that they will be able to pass on to their children someday. :)

She has definitely been around the Horn. Been within 30 miles of my house at least 5 times, but just keeps getting further away. Now it is out to at least Monday. I am sure the box will be in collectable shape when it finally arrives.

Does the dealer know about this? Heck, by the time you receive the knife, it's going to be an outdated design. Oh, wait, it's a Buck. Never mind. :D

Call Fed EX and give them your tracking number and have them immediately look at it and explain.

The 110 was in need of a good sharpening. Take a look at the blade and you can see how great of a job my KO Work Sharp did on it.

That looks great. Did you have any trouble with the 440C or the thick edge? I just use my Spyderco Sharpmaker on my 70s 112 and it sharpens right up.

I had no problem at all.The angle variety is a great option. I will say when I started using the Work sharp I practiced on some cheap knives. I also watched a view demo videos. Now it does any steel I own. The most important thing is belt speed. To fast can hurt the temper. Once you get it right it's great. I do knives for my neighbors as well.

The Sharpmaker is the best of it's kind. You can't go wrong with it.

Thanks wazu.

Now for everyone, my 110 arrived. Great knife, but it has a few issues. The knife is in new condition, but it is quite difficult to disengage the lock. It is stiff and stubborn. I have to deliberately and forcefully push the lock down deep for it to disengage and even then, sometimes it doesn't release. However, when the blade is locked open, the blade is very tight in all directions. In your experience, is the initial stiffness of the lock a sign of a good, strong lock? Also the blade doesn't open and close smoothly - there are areas of "drag". Are both of these issues common with 2 dot knives? Will the lock ease up over time? Will the blade action become smoother? I did oil the moving parts and this seemed to help a little.

Secondly, it appears that there are very light surface sharpening marks on the blade that weren't mentioned by the seller. These marks are only visible in specific light. Can these be removed by Buck without losing any of the blade's profile?

Thanks!
