Thumbstud went missing from my 112 pro. Does any one know if an aftermarket stud for a bugout would fit the 112s hole without modification? just trying to avoid sending it in for waranty

No clue, but Lee D Lee D took the thumbstud out of his 112 Pro. It looks like a tiny, svelte spydey hole. There's a photo in the "What Buck are you carrying" thread.

Did you ever have problems with the thumb stud getting caught on stuff you were cutting? I really like my 112 slim pro, and the geometry of the thumb stud works perfectly for me. It doesn't bother me when I'm cutting anything, but sometimes the thumbstuds get snagged on my pocket. It just happens to be ridding in my back pocket today.

This is exactly why I removed it. At first I removed the clip, but after it bit me on the tip of my middle finger while fishing it out of my rfp, I decided the stud had to go too.

I realize the reason the knife was produced in the first place was to provide an easy to carry 112 with some modern features, but without those features it’s an excellent knife to drop in your pocket and forget about until you need it.

I took the clip off also. It is indeed an excellent knife to drop in your pocket and forget about.

How did you get the thumbstuds off? Do they just unscrew?

I probably should have gotten a nail nick version when they were available on the Buck Specials page, but I like the clean aesthetics of this blade.

I have 2 and I like the stud. The one in question came from the factory spinning loosely. It was like a fidget spinner. Had it on my waistband one day, pulled it out to use and the stud was gone...

The studs are pressed together, not screwed. I had a 112 with a loose stud and would spin when I tried to open the blade, causing my thumb to slide off. I applied loctite and squeezed it in a vice. For the last couple of years, it has held fast. I looked for a threaded replacement, but the descriptions from the suppliers were never complete enough that I was confident that it would fit.
