112 Nail Nick Question

I just received the 112 Heritage knife and found the nail nick to be interestingly small. I don't have any issue with it, but did find it peculiar. Anyone else think this is a rather tiny nail nick for a 112? By the way, I think these are just flat out gorgeous knives.

Here it is next to its big brother, the 110 Heritage.

Looks nice.

Kind of reminds me of the early, early 110 nail notches.

Ok by me.

:)

Yes, they are very beautiful knives. The scales are a great color with the nickel. The touch of red sets off the scales. Thanks for the pictures!

I kinda like that smaller nail nick. How is the grab on it?
That is a mighty fine looking pair of knives:thumbup:

Is that linen rucarta?

I was thinking because it is a Heritage edition, they went back to the thin nail nic of yesteryear

3rd ver 6th var 110 with thin nail nic

Yes, linen micarta. I've also seen it listed/described as micarta linen. I've got the 110 and it's a sweet one with S30v steel.

Hey sitflyer I think Bruce Dollinger still has those 112s you can get his contact info from the BCCI news letters.

Bruce had some of the 110's back in March when I got mine. Didn't keep his email but I believe, at least at the time, he had a few/some of the other models as well. After seeing the 112 in the OP I'm tempted to check on one myself as I really like the 110. Having the 112 too would make for a nice, matched pair, so to speak.

I have the Duke model of these Hertiage Knives and I'd call the handle material canvas micarta. DM

I'm really happy I decided to add the 112 to the mix. I like that small nail nick.

I've also heard those scales called canvas micarta.

Yes, we had this discussion when those first came out and were described in the newsletter. But its no major point and you may call it what you wish. But realize the pattern expressed here. By the time the second guy calls it something its carved in stone. Right or wrong. Since, we're about information here the difference should be put forth. DM

You're right David, below is what the newsletter said about them. It's both, canvas and linen in the description.

"Limited quantity of only 100 of each model (Note: 50 knives of each model are reserved as complete sets), S30V satin finished
blades with special BCCI tang stamp etch, nickel silver or stainless steel bolsters, inlays of green canvas linen micarta with red
vulcanized paper spacers for added contrast, black leather sheaths, Limited edition boxes, Certificates of Authenticity, No serialization."

Thanks Plumber. Larry O. wrote that and he and I discussed it afterward. Well, no need to rehash a finished subject... They are very nice knifes. DM
