I was looking at this one on the Smoky Mountain Knifeworks website, and they don't list a weight for it.

Does anyone here have one and can give me an idea on how many onces it weights in at?

I have recently switched over to lockblade knives because my old traditionals have become too difficult to open with my arthritis. Thus I'm chicken eying the new Buck paperstone models. Lighter in the pocket than the old brass framed knives, but easy to pinch-pull open.

With the steel sub-frame, I'm worried they may not really be a lightweight knife.

And if anyone has one, how is the paperstone when it gets wet?

Thanks.

Check out the 482 because of the thumb studs. The frame is a composite and is very light. The 486 is 110 size.

JK, I hear you on stiff fingers issue...OK, everyone I have been giving a small Vantage 90 % of my pocket time. There, I admitted it.

JK, I have extra I will lend you if you would like a Tidewater test......300Bucks

They're good and light but mine(110) is stiffer to open than my traditional full frame 110's. Not faulty min you, with great snap. But if arthritis is a concern, you may choose to go to a store with 112's in boxes and choose one with easier walk. My 112 got sent back to be tweeked as it was too stiff closing and didnt snap.

When they are wet they still have good grip.

It's one of the sad facts of life, that the knives we love, sometimes can't be used too well after a certain age. Like 300Bucks with his favorites, I love the Case Peanuts. Just love those little pocket jewels. Amber bone, Chestnut bone, stag, red bone, not to mention good old yella. But I just can't deal with them much anymore, so I have to go with an easy to open knife that 10 years ago I would never have carried. Heck, 5 years ago I wouldn't have thought I'd be doing this.

Now my knife is a lockback folder. Getting old is hell. Next thing is probably trading in the rifle for a shotgun, and calling myself Stumpy!:grumpy:

I still enjoy using my drop point 110 and can open it without a thumb stud, one handed .
After cutting lots of wood my fingers get stiff and fatigued, then opening my 110 gets harder . So, I know the feeling . DM
