I wasn't prepared to like this smaller Buck build out as much as I do because of my large-sized hands. Now that I've handled it I see myself using this good-looking bargain knife for a great many cutting tasks.

Thanks for the info oregon. Thought about getting one of those. Keep us posted on your thoughts of it as you use it for more tasks. HL

14, Bear & Scott,

The non-shiny black paperstone looks so good, so sophisticated, so well executed and so right. It gives paperstone a new level of desirability IMHO. Visually, it could be made of slate.

That looks gerat, congratulations! That stone washed blade reminds me of my CRK Large Sebenza. Darn it! Now I wish I'd have added one of those to my order.

That stone washed blade reminds me of my CRK Large Sebenza.

Both are one-handers. Only one has an anodized titanium thumb stud. You know, now that you mention the comparison, I really don't know which I prefer: The frame lock or the back lock. That being said, the majority of my users are back locks.

Everyone should have one of these handy folders, regardless of hand size. :D

Got me second guessing my choice of 301 YW-I nearly got that one.

Two very different knives but with almost the same individual price. A tough choice.

301: Great traditional smaller, only 1/2" shorter, pocket-intended sleek slip-joint gem that everyone will enjoy seeing and handling. What a terrific point this blade has.

112: Great avant-garde sheath-intended (will go into my pocket, however) lock back that many wouldn't notice due to its stealth beauty and compact paperstone handle (but still hand-filling) but would enjoy safely using for even serious cutting. What an outstanding one-hander.

I just ordered 2 of them AND one of the 422's for 10.00 to get free shipping... It will proudly go into my rare/odd/proto collection.I lucked out and found one of the prototype's made for destructive testing [it doe's not have the metal liner] and I wanted to have another paperstone in my display to demonstrate the difference of the prototype..The fact that it has a 450 blade, thumb stud,AND is a odd color [black] makes this build out ODD in it's own right,it will fit right in! Thank you Armand for sending me the e;mail letting me know about this one!I really appreciate the heads up.. I would suggest to all 'Buck Nuts' to pick up a few before they are gone...It's not only going to be a great EDC but also a collectible Buck that will and IS worth more than $25.00 NOW.Build outs are just SOOOO Cooool

I just received my 112 build out today. I have to say I'm rather impressed for $25. Mine has great lockup and came with a very sharp edge, probably the sharpest Buck I've ever gotten actually. The only issue I had was a point and edge that was ground a little uneven. A little bit of time on the sandpaper, and they look a bit better. This is going to be one of my new work knives, so it's no big deal. I was surprised to see that it came with a rather nice nylon sheath. All in all, it's a very nice knife for something that I'm guessing was unplanned. I definitely recommend picking one up before they're gone.

any other comments on the 4 rivets on the non-shield side being sharp? major, minor, or non-issue? almost picked up an ecolite ranger a couple weeks but this looks more appealing...love that blade! still buck's 420 HC and good heat treat?

beestokk,

I just checked mine, and the rivets are sharp on the non-shield side on mine. They don't seem to affect my grip at all though, so I'd call it a non issue.
