I have always noticed the that some scales thought the same material are different textures? Reasons and what do you all preffer?

1st is smooth as glass 2nd is rough and grainy.

A heater? What is this you speak of? Oh i live in Florida, that heater thing i think i saw one of those on TV once.
If you are saying heat caused it then thats almost everyday here. But then it would be happening to more than just that knife.
I seriously dont remember for sure but if it was like that when i bought it or became like that as i used it.
