I got this on one of My recent favotite querry's on the bay.
Late nite...Buck Knife in the search box...just to see what comes up...
Lo and behold there's a NRA small Buck skinner...no model # listed...
I got it to customize and when I saw the Anvil stamp it was a real nice surprise :)
I'm thinking Madrone Burl with mosaic pins might dress it up a bit...

Should I try to keep the NRA engraving on the bolster ? It's very shallow engraving and a good chance it will get mucked up from buffing...

I say try to save the bolster etch if possible. Nice score!

Sit, you have me thinking about getting one of the blem 113's to change out the scales. I have some Black Walnut that would look very good as a new pair of shoes;).

it's a fun knife to work on:):)

If it were mine, I'd leave it as is and hunt for another, plain version to customize. Although if the number produced (20,000 according to the SP list ) isn't a typo, it shouldn't be a really rare version.

Thanx plumberdv...WOW! 20,000! I would expect a glut of these things hitting the market down the road...

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but it isn't the largest number. The list shows that there were 52,500 (!!!!!!!) Bucklite Max #673's made for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

When did Buck have time to make anything else?

I'd regard it as a blank slate for whatever customizing you might want to do.

They usually make a zillion or so of any of the NRA knives, so more will be available if you ever want to own an original one again.

Not much reason to have one unless you're an NRA collector.

Kinda what I figured after plumber showed the #'s made...Already cracked the scales off...gotta wait for the wood and pins...probably do away with the etching as well...:)

In my mind, I'm questioning the accuracy of those figures. Especially since the NRA version shows a price of $64 but the regular plain jane model has a listed MSRP of $80.

Perhaps that reflects the no-sheath???
Apparently they packed the Buck Factory box inside another and included the wall hanger...?

Thanx for the info DeSoto, I couldn't find anything on there about the 113, but they do have a sheath...looks like the regular with an NRA symbol embossed into it....
The Gen-5 cutout looked pretty cool, just not my thing...
