humm what size is a 118?
seen this on a order form..
0118BO1-B Personal (BUILD OUT), BLACK HANDLE,
D-2 BLADE, Box 8643 200 $34.00

Dave,

Look down the thread list to the thread on the Buck Personal knife.
See Mikes photo on the last post for 118 size. Or its just 1 inch too short for a complete clean cut of a steak off the thick part of the rear ham of a cow elk, just right for backstrap.........
300$s

The above dimensions are right for the 118 D2. This one is etched Presidents Tour 2004 and signed by Chuck.

Interesting that it has the Buck, anvil, custom, USA stamp on both sides of the blade. With the back side also having the D2 and serial number stamps. Looks like there were only 100 made.

Handle is Stag, probably Elk or something else. Doesn't look like the sambar that is on the 110's.

Mirror polished. Reddish spacers.

Hmmm, Here on large cow elk's upper hind leg (sirloin/round steak area) the diameter is more like 6-6.5". But were close. A 119 or 124 works real nice making for a professional looking job of it. DM

David, Everyone knows those Gila elk are the biggest in the country......I look for the easy to backpack out CO mid-size models.
So I don't have to buy another knife, Buck that is......300Bucks

Of the 4 varieties(Tule,Rocky Mountain, Manitoban and Roosevelt)(in size order) ours the Rocky Mt. are of moderate size 500lb. cows and 700lb. bulls. Which is substantial for one man to wrestle by himself. Hence, I prefer something like the 118 (a 4" blade) for skinning and a 120 (7.5") for quartering. To make the cut you speak of on a bull is 7-8"thick. One may do it w/ any length blade. I just think it looks better and is more efficiently done w/ a longer blade. Happy hunting. DM

knives have 3 sizes ....
small, large and Oh My God..
the diveing line on folders is 112 is a small knife and the 110 is a large knife
on fixed blades if it is not over 11 inches is is a small knife..
124 are large and there are about six 124's that fall in to the OMG catagory..
i do belive EEE has one...
but what do i know..

Hi guys,

somtimes is my English better than I think. But not now. What the hell means "BUILD OUT"? Please be so kind and give me a hint what that means.

Many thanks and best regards,

Haebbie

P.S.: D2 is a powder metallurgical steel?

Hi Herbie.. You show off your Pigsticker yet?:D I bet your's is the only one in Europe. The Build Out is a Special name Buck uses when they make a special knife out of extra parts. The Bucks are smart and waste very little at the factory. When they make a production or custom knifes sometimes they have left overs like blades, grips etc. For example This last weekend Sept 6th up here in Post Falls The Buck factory had a one day sale and they had a few special knife Build Outs. I just bought one . It has a Damascus steel blade (marked 270),with a stag horn inlay on a Rush model 290. On the box it reads RUSH, 0290BO5-B , Cat.8672 , .I think there were 50 or less. At this sale they also had a few Military style build outs... Hope this helps

Hi Rich, nice to "meet" you! I didn't show the Pigsticker jet and I think I don't do it further on. Otherwise there would be anybody who makes me an offer that I can't refuse. It has a special place at my collection beside the 650 and the 655 and I don't think that this remains unchanged. And thanks a lot for the "translation". Now I know what it means. I would like to come to the Factory sales as it seems that there some interesting knives have been sold. But it is a bit far away. Otherwise I hope, the BCCI Annual Celebrations were not the last time I came to Post Falls.

Best regards,
Haebbie

seen sheaths and fixed blades already listed on sunday..

Please for love of god tell me they had NO 110's i would have wanted .... :(
ya knows what i mean ... nothing like a G10 handle or a 111 .... :(

They actually did have NS 110 with G-10 and BG-42 blade for $40 or $50 don't remember, but it was a killer deal. They also had about 400 118's with 105 sheaths going for about $30. IT was a good sale.
