Both the web page and my invoice said that the blade would be a chipflint. Ponied up the $180 thinking that. Should have paid attention to the image on the web page, in hindsight it does not show a chipflint blade. Looking at the web image again today I would swear the image shows brass guard and pommel. All that said it's a nice handle and with time my disappointment will fade.

Roger, I purchased one of those as well. I could not get their website to accept my card so I called Buck and while placing my order I asked if the blade was chipflint or not. She went and got one and opened the box and stated to me that it was not chipflint. I purchased one anyway and received it earlier this week. Mine is brass just like it showed in their picture. The only thing I did not care for on mine is that the stag handle goes clear up to the top of the guard. Just looks a bit off to me. Yours looks like it is just below the top of the guard.

Odd that yours and mine are not the same. I will try to post a picture sometime over the weekend. Nice knife though and great stag.

So yours was brass, lucky you, mine was aluminum. If I can't have the chipflint blade at least the brass would make it a little more special for the $$$ paid. Think I'll be calling BUCK Monday. Problem is buying stag sight unseen is a roll of the dice, might end up with something I like less.

My invoice description lists the knife as having an Idaho tang stamp, did yours have one? Mine is the Anvil/Custom stamp.

Not listing the steel and the wording of the ad not matching the photo is what kept me from ordering one. That being said I think the knife you got is quite nice looking. I'd love to see a photo of the brass model so we can compare the two.

Nice knife, but I would be upset also.
I understand it doesn't make sense for them to write a description for every odd knife they have left around but they should then make it a "118 grab bag, will have stag handle but not sure past that" type of deal. With a price accordingly.

It's kinda like the wife saying she's fixing steak for dinner and then serving burgers. I like burgers but it is still disappointing when reality doesn't match the anticipation.

I am leaving right now for the day and will post a couple pictures later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Its a beautiful knife but I can understand you disappointment.

Roger - I have to eat my words. I got mine back out to take a couple pictures of and it is actually just like yours. Not brass like I stated. I don't know why I thought it was brass. Just not paying attention I guess.
I have a few older 118 stag knives with nickel and aluminum and wanted this one specifically because it was brass. I may be sending mine back to Buck.

Just my personal opinion but if I ordered brass (and I believe it looks much better then what was sent), it would have been sent back already.

Agreed. Although you have a sweet knife there, it is not what you ordered.

Roger,

The handle on your knife is awesome. However, I'm a big believer that any knife one orders should match the photo and or description. With no chippy effect on the blade and no Brass the true value has not been met, looks to be about $60 over priced to me. You did not get what you paid for here, I'd be pissed off if I were you. Also, the web site is still not fixed. Please let us know how this turns out for you and James.
