Well, after hearing about all the tough things with Buck these last few days, I've got some good news to share -

I got to thinking about the fact that I hadn't bought a Buck in a while. We're moving, and we're foster/adopting later this summer, so we've had some pretty intense emotional and financial soul-searching to do. I've had put off a lot of "non-priority" buying.

Well, long story short, I've been wanting a 119 for several years, for some very sentimental reasons, having to do with my grandmother, and the trust she placed in me years ago.

I decided not to put it off any longer, and while I was out today, I stopped by my favorite little mom & pop hardware store, and the only 119 they had was the display, no sheath or box. Then the sales guy that I've pestered - oops - I mean bought from for years - says, "wait a minute, I may know where one more is."

Lo & behold, he comes down from the managers' office with a 1902-2002 100th commemorative! Since it was the last one, the manager let me buy it.

So, I'm glad I've waited all these years. There's not a feeling in the world like pulling a shiny new Buck out of it's sheath, and I've missed that feeling for too long. I truly feel blessed to have this knife, and I'll sure have a good time reminiscing every time I unsheath it. That commemorative may not seem like such a big deal to some, but after the roller-coaster year we've had, I feel like Gollum with his 'precious'!

So, in memory of my grandma Dixie, (who, by the way, thought very highly of Buck knives!), and many thanks to that little hardware shop, and with thoughts and prayers going out to all the fine folks at Buck, know that we're all here rooting for you guys!

PICTURES = PIE CRUST! . . . oh, sorry :p - doing anagrams with my son earlier.

Actually, we're literally moving as I write this. I'll be shutting down the PC tomorrow, but when we're back up next Tuesday, I'll get some pics posted.

Orca, Good story. I got my 119 100year in a similar manner. Soul searching is hard but good. I wish you and your family the best in these endeavors. I'm glad you remember your grandmother.
Then with you I wish all at Buck the very best. DM

What El Pollo Pistas said. BTW, Trax, great pic of your dawg. Adorable! (I can't beleive I just used that word here).

And, great story.
Good for you Orca. We each deserve to be happy and reading that post made me happy knowing you are happy.
