Hello!

I picked up the 119 early this summer after agreeing to an hectic trail/hiking schedule for the coming months with a friend of mine.

I have been using it for a while now and absolutely love the overall solidness, yet lightness of the knife (I don't do a ton of wood chopping/hacking, so it's fine for me). The edge has held amazingly well, and the feel of it in my hands is just perfect.

However, my biggest problem, especially here in the Pacific Northwest, is the handle. In the often damp weather we have here the handle becomes very slippery at times.

Is there anyone out there doing custom texturing work on these knifes? Or is there a proven method to rough these up that doesnt damage the look and quality of the knife?

Thanks!

My solution to the slippery handle was to get a Mentor 470 with the rubber handle. Does good for what I do. Someone that does checkering on gun stocks might fis it for you. Would be interesting.

Post if you find a solution.

Thanks

It's an easy fix.

For years the Woodsman was my favorite outdoor knife. To fix the slipy problem I took some corse 150 grit sandpaper and after masking off the aluminum but and guard I roughed up the handle using small circular patterns of rubbing.

You don't use heavy preasure, you're not sanding off micarta, you just want to rough it up good. After that the handle will grip real good when wet.

The 119 is a great knife.
