Does anyone know a way to make it so that the sheath on the Buck 119 is a little quieter? I really like the knife but the sheath rattles every time I take a step.

If it's the fabric one they make a leather one that's a lot classier, plus it doesn't let the knife rattle around inside nearly as much. I have two 119's and I generally use the older ones leather sheath for packing either.

Where do you get the fabric sheath because I checked their website and couldn't find one for the 119.

George The fabric one with the 119 I got at Walmart.

I have a leather one bought at a gun show.

I like both and have not had any rattling trouble. But that's just me.

Maybe you could p.m. JRudder and get one oh his sheaths.:D

If it's the leather sheath, you could try wet-forming it a little for a tighter fit. Wet-forming is pretty easy, and you don't have to get the leather sopping wet.

The older style leather I have came with a 119 my Dad bought back in the eighties. It's tighter than the fabric one the new 119 I bought came in. The problem with the fabric one is the plastic insert lets it knife move more (and rattle against it). So, I don't think the fabric will help you.

If the sheath is leather I would add a little velcro to the inside of the area where the blade goes. Use the hook side not the felt side of the velcro so the point of the knife doesn't get cought in the felt and so the velcro doesn't absorb water.

Mine is new and it came with a leather sheath, that's the one I'm having the problem with. It has that plastic insert but it makes it louder when I take it out.

My older leather has no plastic insert. It's not very loose and doesn't let the knife move much at all. If you could find the all leather older sheath it may solve your problem, as it seems the plastic insert is the cause.
(The tightest sheath I have for a Buck is the fabric one that came with my short Nighthawk.)

If your sheath has the plastic liner, then wet-forming alone is out. You could take the liner out, heat it up with a hair dryer and flatten it out some to grip the blade better. IIRC it's only held in with some hot-glue type adhesive. You would then have to reform the leather around it. All in all, I like to velcro patch idea best so far.
