The guard on my 119 wiggles a few thousandths of an inch side to side ( the part closest to the blade. It doesn't really bug me, but have any of you 119 owners had the aluminum end pommel come loose or worse from pounding or hard use ??

Thanks,

Pete

I seen alot of them pounded on and ONLY one have I ever seen loose.
Super glue does work or send it in to Buck.DM

I would send it back to Buck. On more package for Joe H. :D

Best,
Haebbie

How old is it? Is it a keepsake? You are in Canada, any customs shipping issues?

If it is a keepsake, and you send it in, you may not get the same knife back unless you address it to Joe Houser and be specific.

Sorry to hear about the loose guard. Super glue does help but I dont know how long that fix will last. It may out last the knife, I just havent tested it to know for sure.
It is rare that we would attempt a repair on a knife like that. Because of the way they are made, the entire knife has to be torn apart and everything replaced except the blade. Usually our current parts work but on some of the older 119's, they dont work and we dont have any of the older parts anymore.
I am guessing that it is a fairly current knife and I am hoping "hard use" didnt involve a hammer? :)
If so, we would most likely replace it for you under the warranty.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Joe. I'll feather some super glue ( cyanoacrylate) behind the guard, it should hold. I haven't pounded on the end with a hammer ( I wouldn't do that ! ), just wondering how tough it is.
This Buck is a few years old, and I want to keep it.

Pete

ps: It's a great factory fixed blade !!

The guard of my 119 has a little side to side play too.The three parts of the guard (aluminium - micarta ? - aluminium) have a slight play too - that's the result from some soft wood chopping :) But that doesn't bothers me since my knife is a user and this is only a cosmetic issue and doesn't affect its performance :)
