Question, I was given a 119 with a nylon sheath. The knife rattles around in the sheath. I ordered a leather sheath from Buck and it also has alot of room for the blade to move around. Is this normal?

maxb,
Welcome to BF and the Buck forum. That's pretty much normal on newer sheaths with leather wrapped over plastic. I think in 1992 or 1993 Buck made the transition on 119 sheaths from an all leather flat welted one. I usually carry my 1991 119 and theres no "rattle" while hunting.

There are some custom sheath makers that will make you a kydex or leather sheath.

The only kydex sheath maker that I've seen that has the Buck 119 'in house' is Survival Sheaths. Most other sheath makers you have to send the knife to them. I have one of their sheaths and it is extremely nice. They are very light weight.

Sheath Mechanic also comes highly recommended and is usually a tad less expensive.

For custom leather, there are many people that will do it. One maker who's work I've seen and I like is Kid Couteau's Walking Wolf Leather.
