I bought this 119 at an antique store. Date stamp looks like a "C" with square corners, or a square with one side missing. Blade seems to be never used or rarely used if I compare it to my recent Buck knives. Sheath has a fine dust that appears to be mildew on the back only. I have leather conditioner, is that a good thing to put on the sheath? Should I kill the mildew somehow first?

Looks like you have a 1999 year model. There is a sticky up above that has year codes.

Just a bit of soapy water should clean the sheath, then what ever conditioner you have. Or even just some black shoe polish.

Nice find..

hello , you got a 1999 buck 119 , I think you could use your leather conditioner directly on the sheath .

Glad it isn't a fake, I'm no expert. Price was 10% less than Amazon, 20% less than Menard's as of today. My first Buck fixed blade knife. I've been wanting one to go with my 110.

Nope. doesnt look like a fake. And is in nice condition for its age.

You can kill the mold by freezing it over night before applying whatever leather conditioner.

All these gents are giving you correct info.. Buck began using that emblem on your sheath in 1997 or 98. It appears on the original box as well, if you had it. Welcome and enjoy your 119. DM

Cleaned the leather and polished it black, it looks super. Thanks everyone! Make no mistake, I like good honest wear and this sheath was obviously worn a bit. I think the original owner bought it and carried it but never successfully shot a deer because the blade seems untouched.

Looks good man, nice score. I bought mine in 98' but the sheath just says Buck stagered in fancy english style font. My co-worker was willing to pay me 20 & his sheath for mine. Mine must have sat around for a few years before I bought it. Now if I could just get a 124, Mmmmmm happiness.

In case you didn't know, Buck brought the 124 back into production. You can get one just by calling the factory. Same knife and style as the early model, just 420HC steel. DM

What did you get? I'm far from an expert, but in my opinion, you got a very nice vintage Buck 119.
