Does anyone use this particular model for camping and such? If so, how do you like this version? Do you like this version better or the standard version the best? I am trying to decide which one to buy. I can only afford one right now.

For camping, although others may disagree, I feel that a 119 is about the best all-around knife. As far as which one, if it is a user rather than just a pretty knife, I'd opt for the standard phenolic handled 119. The cocobola with brass is the looker and the standard is the user. Although the blades are the same, the brass will rapidly tarnish whereas the aluminum generally won't. Why pay the additional money for a Ferrari when you want a humvee?

Either way you will get an excellent knife.

Buying one to use, go for the standard black-handled model. Cocobolo is a very durable wood, but the black synthetic is nearly indestructible. The steel is the same on each, so no difference with cutting ability or usefulness.

Plus, is you're on a budget, with the $25 savings you can buy a second knife.

But if you're shopping for a knife for lookin' at, cocobolo is the way to go!

If weight is a consideration to lug around, the phenolic is a few onces lighter than the B/C combination. Hoist both and see-
