I have been working off and on with the little villager. And, the more I handle the thing and use it for what ever comes up it just seems to me to get better and better all the time. I don't want a real shiny finish on any of it so from now on, keeping it sharp, the blade oiled up and Linseed on the handle about once a week should be all that it should need.
It is just pretty darn sharp too. I do like those ceramic sticks for putting the final touches to some of these blades. I use the Viking whetstone to polish the edges and it does a good job.
The wood on these handles I haven't figured out for sure yet just what it is but it looks pretty good even though it isn't shiny. The grain will catch the eye when the khuk is out in the sun. Just beautiful stuff.
I can see a few hammer marks and grind marks that will slowly get worked out a little at a time. Just nothing wrong with this little khuk to complain about at all. I can use it for light trimming on some of the trees in the yard. One pop on each side of the 1.5" limbs and they are gone. All I can say about that is, it cuts like an AK is supposed to. Kumar did a very good job on this kkhuk and the handle is comfortable enough that you wouldn't get tired of using it as much as you want to. No steel digs in to the hand with this one.
