President Franklin D. Roosevelt: Yesterday, December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of American was suddenly and deliberately ... http://www.umkc.edu/lib/spec-col/ww2/PearlHarbor/fdr-speech.htm

A day that I fear is being forgotten by many Americans. If you know any WWII vets, today would be a good day to thank them for thier service.
Also a good day to fly the flag at half mast in remembrance.
My grandfather is currently at Pearl Harbor, for what very well could be his last trip to visit old friends lost there. Not many of that generation left.

My dad was in the coastal artillery there but was on the mainland going to radio school when the attack happened. With all his Pacific experience, the army transfered him to the air corps & sent him to the ETO. He started doing what is now known as FAC, Forward Air Control. North Africa, Siscily, Italy, France. 7 Battle Stars, 3 Purple Hearts, awarded the Bronze Star 5 times.

It was the defining moment for a generation. Everyones life changed for the next four years. My parents talk about it like we talk about Kennedy's asassination or 9-11. They know where they were on that day and what they were doing when the news came acrooss the wire. Remember it was the time of radio, party line telephones, if you had one, and no 24 hour news networks. It spread by work of mouth and then they were glued to the radio listening to the news. Pop culture is now history and if you are under 30 and asked what December 7th is, they don't know. Revisionist history is absolving the Japanese for their attrocities and blaming us. I would not be surprised that some day in the near future we will apologize to them for Hiroshima
