I recently traded for not only one, but two 12" AK's!!!! One I wanted for one of my grandsons that's coming along and growing up and I'm thinking it might be about time for him to get a kukri the same as his brother.
Further consultation with my daughter will let me know. Nicholas is more of a tear all than his brother and that's why I was wanting a nice shiny AK for him; he wouldn't understand me giving him a village model after me giving John a shiny one. Y'all know how kids are.
And I got the 12" Village AK for myself.
I needed a small heavy kukri for the carving I sometimes do and although the little balance models are nice they just aren't heavy enough to do what I need to do.
I started the second handle for an Eagle Wing Fan I'm making for my sister's husband to be. After mucking through on the first one and getting to heavy with the horseshoe rasp in a couple of places I decided to go back to the old chopping method.
Since I was just doing light sharpening and the forumite that had it before me had it fairly sharp I thought I would use it as is and gave it a try.
It worked pretty well, but I decided it would benefit from a full convex edge so I put it on my Grizzly and sharpened it to near perfection.
This is nigh near the Most Perfect little tool for carving Fan Handles that was ever made!!!!
It fits over the curves like a radiused draw knife and shaves the wood off neatly. The radius on the belly fits in the reverse curves and shaves them off nicely as well.
I'm sure glad I traded for these neat little knives before I had to start on this project. It has made my life much easier!!!!!
