Everybody has seen the 27 inch and 18 inch Banspatis and heard the comments. Now Jim March has suggested an offering of a 12 inch version and I thought we might as well throw in a 15 inch version as well. So, here it is. If we get a few takers we will manufacture these models. They will be exactly like the big brothers but simply scaled down.

Jim, I'll bet you dinner and six bottles of Heineken the 15 inch gets more takers. Are we on?

I don't know what'll happen. The price difference isn't all that extreme between the two, so that might factor in...3" and more heft for $20 is a good deal even if it's a wall-hanger.

Ultimately, I think it's worth it to HI in general to have as many of these "showpieces" out there as possible. They'll "sell the concept well" as people show 'em off; any such new buyers will almost certainly start out with a "user grade" though.

Here's a question: why not do something like this in a more "martial arts concept" blade? As in, 15" to 20" Sirupati blade done on the lighter side, full decorations? You'd get something more akin to a "Dojo showpiece" that could also be used in Kata demonstrations, shows, etc. As long as you were dead certain you weren't going to drop it, chopping air in a show with one of these would be a fine use harmless to the engravings versus chopping wood or something.

I'd bet the Bando guys would agree in a heartbeat?

One hell of a gift for a Sensei/Guro/Sifu/etc?

I'll wait on this one until I've had a chance to see my 18 inch Banspati. Should arrive in the next week or two....

I'd be more interested in the 15 incher than the 12 incher IF I were ordering now.

Dyad'ko Bill, you may be right, but the suspense of waiting is eating me up inside, just waiting for the 18 inch Banspati to show up any day now.... and I definitely will take a microscope to the Banspati when it arrives.

Once I finish the thorough going over, I'll confirm my reservation for a 15 incher.(could be a while as surgical intervention may be needed to pry my hands off the 18 incher...
