As most know who drop by the Cantina on a regular basis we have some of the finest folks here you'll find anywhere. To wit:

A forumite who does not wish to be identified offered up his favorite 12 inch AK for auction and wants the proceeds to go to Mike L. to perhaps help out a little at Christmas time. This is the reason I'm handling the deal.

Here's the description as emailed to me. The good Samaritan said he'd try to get pix if anybody wants them.

=======================================================
Here is some information about the Khukuri: It's a
horn handled 12" Ang Khola made by Durba. The AK is
really well done and so is the scabbard. In my
opinion, it's a 10/10 effort by Durba. One very sweet
rig. The scabbard fits really well and the tooling is
very nice.

BTW: If you think it would help, I can scan in some
pics of the AK and scabbard them email them to you.
They might not be the best, but I can sure try.

=======================================

Considering the cause I'm going to open bidding myself at the going rate of $100 and see where this takes us.

Merry Christmas, Samaritan!

Thanks, Bob, and bttt. We'll wrap this up before Christmas. Mike probably won't see the proceeds by Christmas but a couple of days late is certainly better than never.

Anybody else?

I don't really have words to express this...
That someone whom I have never met face to face would give up such a beautiful object for my benefit...is...hell, I'm crying on the keyboard.

I am not worthy of this.

2nd - I was shocked (in a very good way) to see the first khukuri go up for auction, but the 2nd 2....it's really a fantastic group of people here in the cantina--glad I stumbled my way in.

cheers, Ben.

Ben, one of my sons has surfed knife and shooting related forums for years, and says this group is wonderfully unique. You seem to fit right in, so if you ever decide to leave, I hope you do your stumbling on the way out, and don't make it. NOW, for me to say that about a self-admitted Brit Socialist means it is time to watch for earthquakes, or falling sky, or....well, no, not Hillary for president, but you get the drift:D

I do feel honoured - honestly. Many thanks :). Not planning on leaving (at least not without some kicking and screaming)--initially I was surprised & impressed by the amount of knowledge & expertise of the cantina members, but then 10 times as impressed by the 'humanity', for lack of a better word, of the people here.

I do hope we needn't watch out for earthquakes or other natural disasters;)....though I'm also a self-admitted royalist too (God Save the Queen!) [which makes politics rather 'interesting' for me]--don't know if that makes it better or worse ;) ;) :D

thanks again Walosi, Yvsa and everyone....B.
