Received my 12" Sirupati Blem this week. Beautiful blade by Sanu. Only minor grain lines in handle. I think this is my favorite (this week);) Since it only cost $40, I thought I would experiment and put a real convex edge on it, with my new Coote belt grinder. Started with 220 grit, then went to 400 and 600 grit cork belt. I wasn't able to convex the whole bevel since it would have taken off too much metal, but was able to get 3/8 to 1/2" of good convex at the edge. WOW. It cuts like nobody's business. It will push cut paper just like a razor blade and still cuts wood like an ax. I have done some convex sharpening before by hand and with a hand finishing sander, but the belt makes it a no brainer. I heartily recommend the convex edge for any large chopper. Thanks for the great blade uncle Bill!

There you have it, boys. If you want a convex edge send your knife to Steve. If the kamis could figure out how to make belts for a belt grinder I think we would see a lot more convex edges.
