Here are a few comments on my 12" Sirupati I just got from Bill. ---With a 5/16"+ thick spine, and 8.1/4" blade and 1.1/4" width, this khukuri has good chopping and stabbing power if it had to be used for self-defence. The horn handle from brass band to pommel is 5" long, and just the horn itself is 4", and less than an inch wide. I am able to twirl and do techniques with this knife, (which I am not really good at doing ) that makes it fun to handle. Easy to keep & hide (12.3/4" long) because of it's smaller size. The scabbard is 1.3/4" wide & 8.5" long. The khukuri in the scabbard is 13.3/4" long. All in all, - a very excellant khukuri.

We say small, but it is still big for a knife, haha.

I know what you mean Cobalt. Most of my other khukuris I am used to handling are 15" and up, with some serious thickness in the blade dept. Most military survival knives I read about are not as big or as thick as the ( little ) 12 incher. There are what I think, an unlimited amount of uses for this khukuri.

A real baby khukuri.

How does the handle feel. At 5", I think I might be able to get all my fingers on the handle. Can you get all your fingers on the handle?

To most people this is probably a heavy duty knife i.e. CS Trail Master and Gurkha are 5/16" blade thickness flat ground. The khukuri is probably sabre ground (even stronger).

Yes Will, --- I can get all my fingers on the handle. --- The horn alone is 4".--- I am 5' 7"+ tall, and 164 lbs.without boots, and have slightly big hands for my size. Feels good to me.

"I am able to twirl and do techniques...", well, now someone else is telling you what I did way back when! It feels to me like they made it from welding two straight razors together. Talk about FAST! And like Jay says, STILL heavy enough to do more than anything it's size oughta be able to! Chopping, slashing, thrusting, and snap cuts that even I don't believe!!! Now you know, Jay. I can't wait for the pair of 12" Ang Kholas to get here. Two for me, one for Cobalt ( unless he wises up and gets a second one ) leaves 3 left of the six 12" AK's Bill has on order! My 12" Sirupati is on it's way to Cliff, but my maccha has the same blade if a different handle. Listen up folks, I told you so! I'm probably going to buy at least one more 12" Sirupati myself after I pay off the pair of AK 12's. Come on Bill, start auctioning them off to the highest bidder now, I got them all primed for you!

Guys, the twirling is nothing new. I have been doing it with the 2-15 inch Ang Khola's since day 1. It's a lot of fun with these light khukuries.

Rusty, I may still get two.

Gee, Cobalt, you may be smarter than you let on!

( God it's nice to have another lunatic around to convince me I'm not as bad off as I thought, especially when the moon gets full and my Transylvanian ancestry starts calling me. Aaaoooo, yip, yip, yip!)

(( Hmmm... Canadian Sasquatch (Cliff); Transylvanian Werewolf/Coyote (Rusty); adopted Nepali Yeti (Uncle Bill); and as yet undetermined oddball/possible monkey god (Cobalt), all clanking with khukuris. What more could a sitcom, let alone a forum, ask for? ( besides Thorazine, that is )!!! ))

(( Oh Renfield...? Oh Igor...? Where are you??? ))

Gee Bill, the garlic usually keeps the Transylvanian side of the family heritage in check pretty well, so maybe it's the genes I got from my ancestors in Balleymoney, County Antrim. That's a little town on the North Coast of Ireland, ten miles due south from the town of Bushmill. Wonder what they make for a living there? Will try tripling the recommended daily allowance of their elixer and see if it has a beneficial effect, per your suggestion Uncle Bill. A soon to be very happy Rusty.
