The 12" villager AK by Santosh that Yangdu carried on her camping trip has found a new home inTexas.
.
Yangdu's pic shows what kind of chopper this "little" blade is, but I thought folks might enjoy seeing a closeup.
I've had HI khukuris from Shop 1, Shop 2, original villagers, and BirGorkha, and this one is right there with the best of them in terms of quality. (Is there a name for the new shop other than "New Shop, or is it the new BirGorkha?
) Also the first one by Santosh I've handled. Very nice workmanship. IIRC, Rusty was partial to 12 khukuris, and I can understand why. This may not be the best choice for leading a charge against enemy trenches, and would probably be less than ideal for felling large trees in quantity. But for real-world chores in the yard, or carrying all day without strain as a hiking and camp companion, this is a great all-around size. The matte finish blade and horn handle are practical and good-looking. And although I still dont care for habaki bolsters in brass, this one by comparison looks solid and businesslike like the rest of the package. The 12 AK is a nice size to slip under the seat of the Jeep for whatever need might arise. As soon as I get tired of admiring it, thats where it will be. Might be a while until that happens, though.
