#120 General

SFDEFENDER, Thanks for your service. Don't know for sure but I think they are. That said, there are plenty out there to be had. E-bay. Preston

I own one I bought back in the late 70's, brand new never used. This one came in the black leather flap sheath. I also have a #110 I bought around the same time, new, never used.

Online vendors seem to still have them in stock. In fact, when I was at my local Ace hardware, the vendor was stocking the Buck display and he put in a new 120...full price... :(

I heard that the #120 General was out of production, is this true?.
I asked the same question in this thread, but, thus far, no one "in the know" at Buck has replied. Until Mr. chickentrax said: "In fact, when I was at my local Ace hardware, the vendor was stocking the Buck display and he put in a new 120...full price..." I had no idea that any retail stores still stock the Buck 120 General.

What was the "full price" of a Buck 120 General at an Ace Hardware...?

Now don't be using me as any reliable source...This is a small mom&pop store, with handwritten price tags, and possibly/probably NOS being loaded into the [probably old] glass Buck display...I do need a couple drill bits; I'll try to check their price later...

Ok, ok, I will, in future, not use you as a "reliable source." ;)

I'll have to check my local Ace Hardwares, or, maybe drive up to NY. :) The only brick & mortar stores that I know stock Buck 120 Generals is Cabela's, and they have that nifty "Pro-Line" etched into their blades! Bleh....

Good! because I was wrong...It's a 119, @ $57.99...

Until just a few minutes ago, I didn't know that the only difference between the two was 1 1/2" of blade...(I'm sorry, geothorn...you aren't driving up, are you???)

Hi Y'all
I mentioned the 120 in a post below. Just picked up 3 Cocobola specials that all have the 2005 "Idaho" stamp. I was surprised as hell when I looked at them. I figured the vendor had a stash of NOS, but obviously not.

Whew...well, at $57.99, I'd be 2/3 of the way towards buying two 119 Specials at Wal*Mart! Glad that you got your drill bits, anyway.

No, I can get 119 Specials down here, already. ;) Now, if that store had a 120 General, it might be another story...the closest Cabela's store "near me" is 500 miles away.

Unfortunately, because of identity thievery, I don't buy online, and I have a rule about my knife buying, that if I don't have the cash, I don't buy the knife. Combine the two, and I need to find a store that sells Buck 120 Generals. I might have to drive that 500 miles to Cabela's!

No need to drive to Cabela's to avoid ordering online. You can print out their mail-order form or order over the phone.

One nice thing about non-Cabela's Buck 120 Generals is that they are all missing the "Buck Pro-Line" etching on the blade. ;)

I could be too picky for my own good, however. I wish that I could just find another store that stocks them...I'll check my local Ace Hardware stores. They carry those six D-cell Mag-Lites, too.

Check out the "it's gone and I did it" topic. Seems fairly simple to remove the Pro-Line logo. But it'd be even easier if it wasn't there in the first place.

Huge blade etchings, Thumbs Down. :thumbdn:

I don't own a Cabelas Pro-Line but have looked at them at the store...it's a etch and not a "painted" logo. To remove the etch it would rquire buffing/sanding...i.e. refinish the blade, doable but a lot more work than using paint stripper and a little elbow grease like on the 110.

geothorn, watch the exchange on this forum and other knife sites use MO for payment...maybe, even on the bay. Preston

So, I think that we're all agreed, Buck 120 General, ; etchings by resellers, :thumbdn: :thumbdn:

Thanks, Preston, I'll try looking around more. These darned "discontinued" but still-in-production 120 Generals are too hard to find! ;)
