Last trip to our property , we actually had time to get down to the Southern border of the farm. We have 1200 feet of frontage on the North Fork Holston River.

There was hundreds of small-mouth Bass just waiting for a worm.

Once we get settled in we plan on having on heck of a hammer-in. It would sure be fun to get a bunch of the forum knotheads together for some good food , forging and fishing.

When Deb and I saw the property. We didnt really care to much for the acre and a half that has the two houses on it, it was the top 31 acres that made us fall in love with the place. So we've decided that we will name the place

"Top 31"

That may well be the name for a line of midtech knives that I hope to get started.

Might use various farm machinery terms for these knives. Tractor, Combine , Grain drill, crawler etc....

Just wanted to share some of our dreams :)

It's beautiful, Mark. It feels peaceful just looking at the fotos. A Smallie or 6 on a Wooly Worm would make it just about perfect. Watching the mist burn off the hills of a morning from the porch with a cup of coffee and no shirt on must be a little of what Heaven's like.

You two are embarking on a new, special part of life. Nanc and I wish you the best. :)

Thanks a bunch for sharing!

That's a nice looking stream, Mark. Have you ever tried fly fishing for smallmouth? They seem to really like the larger nymph type trout flies. A smallmouth on a light fly rod is really fun.

Great place.

Truly a pretty place, Mark.
Wish I had a place like that to call home.
If you're needing a fishing rod or two, let me know.
I've got too many (50 or 60) doing very little in my garage.
Sort of a house warming gift.

Geat looking place Mark. Lots of really pretty country up that way. It appears to be less than 2 hrs. from me. If I can help with locating any machinery or other things you might need, let me know.
Rick

Mark,
Absolutely Beautiful!
By the way I second Steve's suggestion...and add that one of the best flies, at times. when fishing the Penobscot for Smallmouth was a size 6 3XL yellow rubber spider....and on the surface it is really exciting! Also a Dahlberg Diver, deerhair bugs, poppers...I used to be as addicted to flyfishing and tying as I am now to knifemaking.....You are very fortunate to find such beautiful property and fishing potential!:D

Thanks Guys,

We're giving our 30 day notice to our landlord at the end of the month. Hope to get in some fishing when we make our next trip. I'll be sure and post some fish pics :)

We do feel very fortunate. Just being on the right website at the right time was quite a blessing.

Ya'll be sure and come see us when we get there permanently

Great place! Looks like you'll only be about 45 minutes from us. You probably don't want to come hang out with a lawyer though ;).

Matt , as long as you dont sue me, we'll be fine. :)

Your saving grace is that you are a knifemaker :) I'm over the lawyer thing by the way. :)

Mark can I park a camper trailer up there and live there forever?? PLEASE

I'd be down for that, Mark, even if I had to hitchhike! I'll bring my 5wt. Then again, I might not ever leave! Say... you have an extra house there too... need a handyman?

:D

Dan , we will be moved by October for sure. You might hook-up with Stacy (bladsmith) or Jim Arbuckle (KNIFENG)

My Back is doing crappy. I have more disc fragments pushing on my sciatic nerve. Doc says unless he goes back in and removes the discs and fuses my spine, I will continue to be bothered with it. I've got a month to think about whether to get the fusion or just try to live with it.

Thanks for asking.

I could put a small army to work Jeff. Come on down :D.

I think my Father has asked to be our garderner. Handyman position is up for grabs.:)

Mark
if it's pain over the fusing go for the fuse job..
you just can't bend so far in the back which you shouldn't bend lifting anyway
My dad and uncle had it done years ago and..I had another uncle that had 7 of them fused they got along fine after
..pain will make you old and die sooner..

Stacy is just up the road from where I'll be, I have his addy and
we've e-mailed about it....
where abouts is Jim Arbuckle?
I'm not sure how much time I'll have where I'm the main man for this Navy Reunion..
Get the pain fixed Mark, you'll thank yourself later, just make sure you have a doc that knows what he's doing...
