A custom 120 I fished out of the Bay a few years ago. It came to me naked, no sheath, box, or information. I've paired it with a custom sheath I had in my extras box. The sale description was "bone" but I think it is stag. I think it is a contemporary customization on an older blade. The 3-line stamp gives some clue to the blade's age but I'm thinking it is a 425m steel so 82-85 based on the grind. The handle is excellently done, its no hack job. The knife looks to me like the type of thing Joe Houser would have done. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Mr Houser?

Good eye. Every other Melamine knife I've seen pictures of were leather spacered barrel nuts. I corresponded with Larry Oden a long while ago and he suggested it was a factory re-handle or repair (Lifetime Warrranty in action?). The failure of the Melamine handles was that they cracked if dropped when cold. I belong to a local club, St Louis Antique Arms Collectors, and you would hear on occasion.... "if they could only talk". Just to be contrary, the difference between a barrel nut and a pinned pommel could be one day..... ;o) /RMaybe I'm seeing things...is the melamine 120 pinned?
