I'm having a hard time finding anything definitive for the production dates for a two and three line Fisherman with inverted stamp. Why was the stamp inverted and when? Thanks in advance for the help.

I think this is what you are looking for. The two line inverted ran from 1968 into 1972, and the three line inverted was in 1972. Someone else will have to give you information about why the stamp was inverted. All I can say is that the inverted stamp was what was used on all of the earlier knives, both one line and two line. A better question might be, "Why did the stamp change from being inverted?"

Buck's knife stamp was inverted from the beginning. 1961 date of incorporation, we'll start there. The stamp was inverted from that time.
Then in 1972 as the stamp went to a 3 line it was Vern Taylor (he started the Buck Collectors Club) who was assembling his collection of 100 series knives and noticed the inverted stamp as he stood the knives in his display box. Seeing the stamp should be turned to allow them to be read with the point up. He took his idea to Fred Wilson, (who was later club administrator) in marketing. A astute man. They both seeing it took the idea to Chuck and he agreed the stamp should be changed. Thus we have it. DM

Information like this is why I always check in to the Forum every morning, Thanks Dave for sharing your knowledge.
As side note I think I had heard that the "usa" was added when the knives were to start selling in Canada, is that correct?
Thanks DT

Does anyone know what year U.S.A. was added to the tang stamp?

Thanks in advance.
