somehow i got it into my head 1969 but 1 of you will know for sure thanks for the help

Ted, are you sure someone didn't modify the knife? I don't think I've ever seen a factory 124 like that, but I might be wrong.

good day jake i looked it over pretty good and id say its factory i wouldnt say they are rare but they are scarce as i have seen a couple of others but they were used about the age of this they had a nemo and i thought thats what i had but i think they were a 122 and had the special rubber sheath mine is 124 with leather the box it came in is one of those light yellow 1 piece fliptop marked frontiersman bone , 124 bc , cat no 8014 but of course te box could be mixmatched
ps im still trying to get a decent scan not having much luck i think ill try a pic in the sunlight tomorrow

b2b,
The tang stamp, sheath style, and catalog # will narrow your manufacture date. BCCI club site should have info on 124 or shoot Joe H. an email. Those of mine pictured are a '68 to '71 2 line w/ hole in pommel and a 2004 Klinkhamer Special with hole in pommel.

Great blades! Every time I see pictures around here, I get reminded of why I like and enjoy Bucks so much! Form, function, and damned good looking, to boot!

All the 122s and 124s up through the early 1970s had factory lanyard holes in the pommel. This includes the phenolic and micarta handled versions.

If you like lanyard holes, it's not too hard to drill those Buck pommels, I do it front to back though.

Ditto. I picked up a NIB red micarta 124 a couple of years ago. According to Joe, they're pretty rare w/the red micarta.
