Doc, Thanks for the photo. That one looks just like mine, made from late 1972-1979, with micarta handles and 440C blade . Those are great knives ! Be proud you have one . DM 8;)

I certainly don't have the knowledge that DM has, but in referring to Joe's timeline for the 124, it would appear that late 72 may be a little early. The early 1973 124s had a stainless guard, the middle 1973s had "blocky or squared handle shape" and the late 1973s were like yours. Thereafter Joe's timeline is less than comprehensive but it appears that the design remained unchanged until roughly November 1982. Having a few 124s myself, I would be very interested in any further information regarding dating the 124s that anyone might have.

Telechronos:):):)

Telechronos,Thank you but I wouldn't give me much credit as my wife will tell you different. I was going by the info. given on the 124 at the 20 yr. reunion and a article Joe H. wrote in the June, 2003 issue . The info. written on the BCCI site has probably been up dated and I can't download any of that . So, if new info. came down the pipe I'm in the dark . However, I do know that model does not follow the same pattern as the other 100 series knives. You could have something . There are some real experts here on this model and just a couple sentences from them could turn the key to the lock on this mysterious door . Please, sit tight and we shall see what develops . DM
